Lighten Up Lenoir is a free community weight loss program sponsored by the Minges Wellness Center and the Lenoir Memorial Foundation. Lighten Up Lenoir is designed to help you lose weight by forming motivational groups of four to keep you on target. It’s a fun way for the whole community to get healthier together. Lenoir Memorial adds physician at Lenoir Surgical

Wayne Jarman, MD has joined the staff at Lenoir Surgical. Back in November, Lenoir Memorial opened its second hospital-owned clinic, Lenoir Surgical, which is located in the old Kinston Surgical Associates offices. Dr. Jarman and Dr. Tanner are both general surgeons and are accepting new patients. Most insurances are accepted and filed. New Cancer Resource Center opens in October

Lenoir Memorial was recently selected by the American Cancer Society as one of only three organizations in North Carolina to receive special grant funding to support the operation of a Cancer Resource Center. The resource center, allows Lenoir Memorial to elevate the level of care and services offered to cancer patients.

A personal wellness profile (PWP) is a health risk appraisal. This tool provides valuable personal information about you so that an indiviudalized plan for life-style improvements can be developed. The PWP includes an assessment of your blood pressure, heart-rate, height, weight, and full lipid panel (all cholesterols). You are asked to complete a simple questionnaire about cancer, safety, and cardiovascular risks. The two-part visit is $40. New technology for lung cancer detection

Lenoir Memorial provides many of the latest diagnostic technologies for cancer diagnosis. Technology continues to revolutionize every medical subspecialty including those dealing with healing cancer. The new Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), is only available east of I-95 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. A powerful new outpatient test EBUS, or bronchoscopy with ultrasound, lets physicians “see” through lung tissue, to test for lung conditions such as lung cancer, lymphoma, and sarcoidosis. The innovative bronchoscopy procedure is less risky, yet similar to in effectiveness as major diagnostic surgery.
Lenoir Memorial offers HALO Ablation for Barrett’s Esophagus

Lenoir Memorial is now offering BARRX HALO Ablation for the treatment of Barratt’s Esophagus. Barrett's esophagus is a precancerous condition of the esophagus caused by chronic acid reflux. Millions in the United States suffer from acid reflux and are at risk for Barrett's esophagus. Many of its symptoms are similar to acid reflux symptoms. If left untreated, Barrett's esophagus can become cancerous, and mortality rates on esophageal cancer are very high.
